Crash Proof 2.0: How to Profit From the Economic Collapse

Crash Proof 2.0: How to Profit From the Economic Collapse - Peter D. Schiff All Americans should be required to read this book. It only has a few updates in it from the previous version, but it, nonetheless, hits the sweet spot into all that is effecting our country today. One can only hope that Schiff and people with the same Austrian economic background find their way into Congress. It's our only hope of getting out of this mess!

Have a Little Faith: A True Story

Have a Little Faith: A True Story - Mitch Albom This book is the true story of Mitch Albom's journey in discovering faith after being asked by his rabbi to eulogize him at his funeral. The story beautifully intertwines the stories of Albom's own life, that of his rabbi's and the pastor of a congregation of homeless people in urban Detroit-- the combination of which provides the reader with a wonderfully written account of the author's journey of discovery. I would recommend this book to people of all faiths and beliefs, including those who do not.

Rich Dad's Advisors: Guide to Investing In Gold and Silver: Protect Your Financial Future

Rich Dad's Advisors: Guide to Investing In Gold and Silver: Protect Your Financial Future - Michael Maloney A MUST READ for anyone interested in protecting themselves/profiting in the tough economic times to come. Lots of excellent information. Pick up this book today!

I Will Teach You To Be Rich

I Will Teach You To Be Rich - Ramit Sethi As a person with an interest and B.B.A in finance, this book was very much a refresher for me; however, the book is worth its purchase price just for the last chapter alone. His innovative approach to negotiating a car purchase and real world view on owning a home vs. renting will save readers thousands of dollars alone! And for those new to personal finance, the automation chapters are golden and key to long-term success-- I speak from experience. Automation helped me to pay off debt, save for retirement and save for travel. Although I didn't automate to such an extent, I will definitely do so in the future. This should be a must read almost anyone-- rich or poor.

Crush It!: Why NOW Is the Time to Cash In on Your Passion

Crush It!: Why Now Is the Time to Cash In on Your Passion - Gary Vaynerchuk A very quick book, packed with information on how to brand oneself in the digital age. I found the book filled with good ideas and insightful. I would recommend this book to anyone with an entrepreneur's spirit, regardless of one's intended area of expertise.

The 22 Immutable Laws of Branding

The 22 Immutable Laws of Branding - Al Ries, Laura Ries A MUST READ for anyone in the business world or considering entering it. The examples are outdated-- the book is 15+ years old-- but the gist of them and, more importantly, the laws ring very true and are concisely written.

The Power of Unreasonable People: How Social Entrepreneurs Create Markets That Change the World

The Power of Unreasonable People: How Social Entrepreneurs Create Markets That Change the World - John Elkington, Pamela Hartigan An inspirational book that I would recommend to anyone interested in having an impact on the world. The book tells the story of how one man's trip to Nepal on a vacation away from his hectic life at Microsoft changed his world forever.

More Mortgage Meltdown: 6 Ways to Profit in These Bad Times

More Mortgage Meltdown: 6 Ways to Profit in These Bad Times - Whitney Tilson, Glenn Tongue Chapters 1-6 are amazing and are a must read for any citizen of the U.S. The information in these chapters are simply stunning. The rest of the book is just OK and worth skimming, unless you would like to know more about the companies highlighted. I enjoyed the breakdown of AMEX and Wells Fargo most and found the firm's research enlightening.

Rich Dad's Conspiracy of the Rich: The 8 New Rules of Money

Rich Dad's Conspiracy of the Rich: The 8 New Rules of Money - Robert T. Kiyosaki This book offers some good advice, although much like most of Kiyosaki's books, it has very good points but is light on content. The book covers the past, present and future of the U.S. (and world) economy. After having read Rich Dad's Guide to Investing in Gold and Silver by Michael Maloney, I much prefer Mr. Maloney's depth of coverage with regards to the history of world monetary policy. Kiyosaki makes some good points and offers good advice for the present and future outlooks for the economy and, more importantly, how one can prosper. I would recommend skimming this book until 1/2 way, provided that you have decent monetary policy history, and focus on the latter portion of this book. All-in-all, the book is worthwhile. I give it 4-stars based on critical thinking content alone.

Comeback America: Turning the Country Around and Restoring Fiscal Responsibility

Comeback America: Turning the Country Around and Restoring Fiscal Responsibility - Patricia Davids, Gail Gaymer Martin, Carolyne Aarsen, Merrillee Whren, Diann Walker, Annie Jones, Allie Pleiter, Gail Sattler, Gilbert Morris, Bonnie K. Winn, Lenora Worth, Dana Corbit, D Irene Brand Much of the information in this book I already knew. Unfortunately, many of the solutions Walker offers to are very progressive in nature, which, in my opinion, are the problems facing the nation today. If all men are created equal, why must gov't impose progressive taxes, regulations, etc? And I'm firmly in the lower-middle class. Needless to say, I found the "solution" portion of the book to be very lacking and very evident that it was written by someone who's been in government much too long. I have much more faith in the American people than Mr. Walker. I don't believe that social security is something that people depend on and need. Rather, I believe it is yet another freedom taken from us by government that is then messed around with and regurgitated back to us as something much less valuable than what the private sector could have given us or, better yet, what we could have used the money to create. Society doesn't get smarter by the government taking over things for them, it gets dumber... and, in turn, society then turns to the government for solutions. We got through the Great Depression without the government, what makes us think that we need them to solve anything... especially problems they, themselves, created for all of US.

Conquer the Crash: You Can Survive and Prosper in a Deflationary Depression

Conquer the Crash: You Can Survive and Prosper in a Deflationary Depression - Robert R. Prechter Jr. If you're looking for a book that contradicts the "inflationary bubble" that most are predicting, this book is excellent in giving insight into why the opposite might occur instead. The main reason, the banking system. Now, I do wish that Mr. Prechter would have discussed the M3 (or its extrapolated equivalent) more in the book, as I think it is of vital importance; however, that being said, he gives a very compelling argument for deflation, so much so, in fact, that I found this 400+ page book to be a page turner. I highly recommend that every American read this book.

The Road to Serfdom: Text and Documents--The Definitive Edition (The Collected Works of F. A. Hayek, Volume 2)

The Road to Serfdom: Text and Documents The Definitive Edition - Friedrich A. von Hayek, Bruce Caldwell, Bruce Caldwell Dry, but a book that every person should read.

Christmas Jars

Christmas Jars - Jason F. Wright A good book with a great story and message.

The Global Debt Trap: How to Escape the Danger and Build a Fortune

The Global Debt Trap: How to Escape the Danger and Build a Fortune - Roland Leuschel;Martin D. Weiss;Claus Vogt This book gives a great synopsis of the last decade, as well as a good understanding of what is coming down the road but it is light on solutions and on how to implement them. The authors should have spend at least another chapter on how citizens can protect themselves. Even still, I'd recommend this book to anyone wanting to understand what is going on with the world economically, why prices are rising and what to do about it.

The New Road to Serfdom: A Letter of Warning to America

The New Road to Serfdom: A Letter of Warning to America - Daniel Hannan I wish the book would have stayed more focused. To me, it seems to give the original title a bad name. A decent quick read, but, truthfully, I would look elsewhere with so much currently out there to read.

The Adventures of Johnny Bunko: The Last Career Guide You'll Ever Need

The Adventures of Johnny Bunko: The Last Career Guide You'll Ever Need - Daniel H. Pink A very good, quick read. I think anyone who is in search of a career path should check out this book.
